Help with translating a theme

Hello there
im fairly new to SMF, and i came from a vbulletin background so im not familiar the template system used in SMF
i converted from vB with no problems, imported a theme i like but the directions are messed up!

this screenie will help

the stuff i highlighted with red shud be in the right hand of the screen
except for the category block title shud stay at the right area, while the mark as read link should be moved to the left
i guess the theme's creator used a lot of "float" tags

so anyway, can anyone direct me to which templates i should be editing, and what exactly should i do
cause im not familiar with SMF template nor the PHP + html at once
but i think i can manage if someone tells me what to do, or where to look
