I have upgraded http://forums.invictatrader.com to 1.1.13 just recently. Is there a way I can try 2.0RC5 on my site and then switch back to 1.1.13 if there is a problem? Is there a way to toggle between versions without losing any content? I only have a handful of mods in place on the current version.
Thank you.

BTW when will 2.0 be released as a fully functional and operating version?
Thanks.

there is no official way to downgrade once you have upgraded to 2.0. you can always setup a test install of 2.0 and see if you like it there. there is no estimated date for release, due to the fact that smf is a volunteer project and not everyone can work on it at the same time.

that is most likely only of a few reasons why it is not released, I bet there are a few more bugs to be smashed while we are waiting for that.

Thanks. If I download and set up 2.0 as a test, how do you move the content to the new version? Is there like a "Content" folder like Wordpress that can just be transferred to the 2.0 test version?
Thanks.

Database ::)

You have to upgrade the database before using it in 2.x, though.

Thanks. So it is not something simple to do. Moving the content. Will wait for the official 2.0 release then.

You actually should of have installed 1.1.13 on your test site ::)

Then you could insert your database backup from your other 1.1.13 forum and upgrade the test forum to 2.0 RCX. ::)

that does not change the fact that changes done in the database need to be redone once the upgrade is complete on the live site, even if you have a test site with the changes already done.

Thank you. Will wait for the official release then as I do not want to mess anything up.
