Hi,

I did search support forum and manuals, but I didn't see the answer to this question.  Apologies if I missed it.

When I originally set up my SMF 1.1.11, I thought I understood most everything inside and out... but had some life changes and except for the weekly/monthly manually backup I am now mostly an absent admin (bad!).  Now that I'm doing this overdue upgrade, I'm having to learn everything again.  Just FYI, as I'm somewhat thickheaded at this point.  :)

I prepared for the upgrade and did the regular full backup and some additional download of theme folders, etc., just in case.  I printed off the Upgrading - Online Manual instructions.  I assumed I was going to upload files to the CP-side of my forum, but before I did, I thought I would click the hyperlink in the Admin Panel message reminder about doing an upgrade and see if it took me to another set of instructions or what.  Instead, I saw that this installed an upgrade patch each time I clicked it and I am now on 1.1.13.  AWESOME!  So easy!  Me love you long time.

My question is about finishing the upgrade. In the Upgrading - Online Manual, it says to delete the upgrade.php.  Since I didn't load files that way, I don't have a "/forum/upgrade.php."  I also checked the "/forum/Packages/" folder and I don't see anything there either (patches but nothing called "upgrade").  In Forum Admin/Packages/Browse Packages and Admin/Packages/Installed Packages I see a list of all the versions I have (1.1.11-1.1.13).  Should I be deleting or uninstalling some of those?  I'm unclear as to whether those older version files are no longer needed, or if they are foundational that the patches complete.

I just want to make sure I've finished up everything I should so the forum isn't left vulnerable.

And please let me know if I didn't do something with the upgrade that I should have.  Thanks!!

ETA: Oh, on a related note - I noticed that I have forum/install_1-1.sql on my server still.  Should that be deleted? Thanks.

Michele

Since you did it via the Package Manager, there won't be an install.php file to delete, so you're okay. And you can delete the install*.sql file too.

the upgrade.php file is only present when you use the large upgrade package and override all your files with new files. If you consider this topic solved please click the mark topic solved button on the bottom left.
