Hi.

I have a new forum I am starting up - it, is to begin with, a private affair..and I have a security password on the folder too (could this be the problem..Hmmm.)
Ok - So I downloaded 1.3 and it was lovely and all good. Now, I tried to add Facebook connect but it doesn't work with 1.3 - 2 does - so I downloaded and uploaded the upgrade and did the Mods to the permissions... Now, when I fire up the site - has a kind of gradient of blues as a background and it has about four billion words of coding over that..

fined('SID')) return $buffer; // Do nothing if the session is cookied, or they are a crawler - guests are caught by redirectexit(). This doesn't work below PHP 4.3.0, because it makes the output buffer bigger. // !!! smflib if (empty($_COOKIE) && SID != '' && empty($context['browser']['possibly_robot']) && @version_compare(P

etc.

Underneath it says

You used the LARGE upgrade pack, right??

If not, overwrite the current files with the large upgrade files.

If your board was new (no boards/topics/whatever created) you could install the 2.0 forum, instead of upgrading 1.1.13 :)

Just clean your database in phpMyAdmin before you go through the process, though.

Just a thought...

You mention uploading the upgrade.

Did you actually run it?

It won't give me that option...

kat

You downloaded the upgrade.

You dearchived it.

You uploaded all the files.

You pointed your browser to http://www.youforum.com/upgrade.php

Is that the case?

MAGICbOY

yes.. although no - because it is www.mysite.co.uk/forum/upgrade.php [nofollow]

Is that right ?

kat

Yeah, that's OK.

I just used that as an example.

So, you went to that and did the install.

Everything went OK?

MAGICbOY

Nah... it just comes up with all the gobblegook..

What is your PHP version? (Ask your host if you don't know)

Got it via PM.

I get the weird stuff for just a split-second, then the forum loads.

However, as Magic says, there's a whole load of weirdness, when you point it to upgrade.php, with the actual upgrade screen underneath.

I'm thinking "Filezilla", now.

Did you upload everything using Filezilla, by any chance?

I have used filezilla to upgrade two forums flawlessly.

Yeah. But, if he has "Transfer type" set to "Auto", it can cause problems.

MAGICbOY

I used smartftp to upload....

MAGICbOY

Hmm. that's worth a look.. binary yes ?

I'll have to delete the whole thing - upload my backup then upload the update slecting binary..

Sound about right?

kat

You should be OK just reuploading everything.

Yes, Binary is the way to go.:)

MAGICbOY

humph....!!

Nope - exactly the same... works as 1.111.1..3.1 or whatever it was - but does this on upgrade...hmmm

Doesn't even show in firefox....

imhsar

Hi I am also new here. as I saw your problem and happy to see your response. Generally it happens in upgrading while downloading. You should take care of that.

MAGICbOY

HEY.
I decided to just install 2 from scratch...so, rather than copying and pasting all my stuff wot I already did, is there anyway to shift all the info from my 1.1 to this new one, er, painlessly..?
