Ok this is my first site, im very knowledgable with computers just have never branched out to html or making sites, so here i am. I decided to make a forum and it started going fine until i realized i was using an outdated forum system. I bought my domain and hosting along with everything else from hxxp:godaddy.com [nonactive]. thats also where i downloaded the app and installed 1.1.13. i just have no absolute clue on how to upgrade, i hate reading instructions( IM A MAN!!! ) but this time i need help =( i tried looking on the web and even searching related problems but most of them are for people who already have prior experience or problems.

ok so an overview just in case if im blabbering...

- I got my domain + hosting at hxxp:godaddy.com [nonactive]
- I am currently using 1.1.13 and im looking to upgrade to the newest version, which i think is rc5 as far as ive seen
- I HAVE the onlinefilefolder....

i think thats about all the needed info.. PLEASE let me know what i can do to upgrade..

1.1.13 is the most updated version in the 1.1.1* branch. why do you want to upgrade to a RC at this time? you will have to take a few more steps to upgrade to 2.0 when it goes gold anyway. Upgrading SMF

I didn't want to open a new topic for this... Is it going to be possible to easy upgrade from SMF 1.1.* to SMF 2.0 when the final version comes out or its going to be a complicated procedure?

Spale it is usually recommended for each person to open up a new topic for each issue, but the short answer for your question is to read Upgrading SMF

Welcome to SMF, spalumbo.  As Illori said, 1.1.13 is the most current version.  2.0 is currently a Release Candidate and we hope to go gold very soon.  Unless you want to upgrade twice, it might be best to wait until the gold version is released.

@ Spale -  It will be a normal upgrade where you unzip the contents of the upgrade package and FTP the files to your webspace overwriting the existing files.  All mods and custom edits will need to be re-installed.  Upgrading from 1.1.x to 2.0 can not be done using the package manager.

Thanks JimM, you explained to me what I am looking for. I'll wait to SMF 2.0 becomes gold before making the update... Until that, 1.1.13 is going to be my choice.

There are quite a few folks that are doing the same thing.
