I am trying to add a link from the top menu of the x2.0 website?  Is this possible?

yes it is possible, you can add the links in the Sources/subs.php file.

Maybe you can try to follow the tutorial on the wiki and if you have any doubt feel free to report it so we can improve it!

why not try to fix the issues as well? we can always view the history if we see any issues and revert the changes worst comes to worst.

You can edit the wiki once you get to 10 posts.
