Banned People Still Getting In

Tell ya what I'd love to see...

A mod, where you can put these people into a certain group, or setting, where everything they post is automatically turned in to total gibberish.

Kinda like the "Word Censor" feature, but only for that particular member.

I really like that idea. I'll do that for the future pests. In the meantime, if I unban them (and I have a heap of them), how an I supposed to remember who they were? Is there a way to get them into this "dead end" forum without having to go through the whole process of trying to figure out who they are (or were)?

Before you unban them, make a list of usernames, emails, IPs - any of the ban triggers that are blocking them from registering.   Then you'll have to check them against new members as they register.  It's a pia, but once you've cleared up the backlog, you can just deadend any problem members as you go along.  Or you can just wait until the re-registered members cause a problem, then dump them.

Probably wouldn't be too difficult to modify Register.php to allow banned members to register and either notify admin, or automatically dump them into the garbage group, but it's easier just to handle it on an ongoing basis, which you'll have to do anyway down the road.

Any news about a MAC type ban ? I think that's the best solution, at least in my case.

that would have to be server side, smf has nothing to support that type of ban.
