Hello,
I have added repair_settings.php to my root directory and on the page, at the bottom, I am getting the error "Settings.php cannot be written to by your webserver. Please modify the permissions on this file to allow write access. "

I have checked my permissions on the Settings.php file and it is chmod 777.

Please help.

Thanks

kat

Hi and welcome!

Can you ask your host if you have full ownership of the files on your site?

Hello,
Sorry for the late reply.
I have contacted my host and they said that I do have full ownership to the files on my site.
Still won't work though.

You may want to try changing the chmod to 755 and try again, and if it still says the same try changing back to 777...

can you try renaming that file to lets say settings.php1 and copying the contents to a new file named Settings.php and see if that helps?

Getrich

I changed the file name and put a new Settings file in like you said and it did not work.

Contact your host again and copy/paste the error you are getting.  This is obviously a host issue.  They should be able to fix it.  If they can't, get a new host.

looks like they contacted their host already... guess it is time to look for a new host then.

I talked to the host about this issue. Couldn't figure out the issue on there end. I will just find a new host.
I appreciate all the help everyone.

Illori, contacting the host about full ownership of the files and contacting them about the specific error the OP is receiving is two different things.  In this particular case my suggestion was not a duplication of effort.
