Domain root page is default without any boards, logo etc it looks like a clean install of SMF - The rest of the site is fine

for example

http://www.domain.com/ - this shows a default empty install with just general discussion, without my logo etc

http://www.domain.com/index.php - shows all the boards, logo etc as it should

I need the root to display the site as it does with index.php....not a clean install...

very strange ay?

hxxp:www.domain.com/
- This is using the default index.html page for your site

hxxp:www.domain.com/index.php
- This is the forum page with no posts, everything is blank, can you explain more whats wrong? Is there a link to where you said you have posts on your forum? Do you have more then one install of SMF on your hosting?

tabletsdroid

thanks for your help.
basically I need hxxp:www.domain.com/ to display /index.php

right now if someone types in my domain they will see a completely empty forum with no logo, no boards but curiously displaying my background image

yes your right, there are no posts...that is irrelevant

Remove the index.html page from the root of your site and it should pick up the index.php one if it has been setup in your web server installation to recgonise index.php.

damn! now im really screwed the whole site has gone down with this message

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

I deleted both the index.php and index.html :(

Please tell me there is some way to remedy this?

you need to upload index.php from your install package back to your server, smf can not work without that file in place.

tabletsdroid

Have uploaded index.php from smf install archive back onto my server...still not working, same error: [an error occurred while processing this directive]

I am starting to feel the fear
