Hello,

I just installed the treasury mod and now it screws up saying. I also did the back up before I downloaded the treasury and still the same thing. Any help?

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Matthew K.

So you restored the backup that was taken before the mod was installed?

Have you considered contacting your host on this to see if they can further diagnose it?

Aleksi "Lex" Kilpinen

If a mod installation caused this, it might be because some files were left with looser permissions than your host allows,
so you might want to use FTP to make sure your files are chmod 755 or lower, if you have files currently chmodded 777.
( of course, if you already know your host allows 777, then this point is not worth pursuing... )

I need futher help, I'm new at this.

Matthew K.

Have you contacted your host yet, like I suggested?

bennyaka

No, I believe there is an easier way of fixes it, instead of contacted them an waited 24 hours for a reply. I'd rather somebody on here to help me.

Ben, there's nothing on your board you can't replace, so you can do a clean reinstall.  But check with your host first.  I occasionally get that type of error (I'm on a shared server), but usually clears quickly.  You've been down for a while.  Reinstall won't work if it's a server problem.

I'll lose my boards and threads, member groups, permissions and all the work I've done though.

Sir Osis of Liver

No, you won't.  That's all in the database, and isn't affected if you replace all the default core files.  Do you have ftp access?

You can download the 1.1.13 large install package, unzip it, and upload the files to your server.  That'll give you a clean installation.  You may have to reconfigure some of the admin settings, but the database should be intact.

Nono... If you are going to resort to cleaning the files all ar once, and so uninstalling all mods at the same time - you do it with a Large Upgrade package, effectivily updating the forum and cleaning the files. Doing another actual install will end messing things more...

Should have been clearer - wasn't suggesting doing another install, just replacing the files.  Hope that didn't cause a problem.  I see the site is still down.

Even just replacing the files can cause problems if mods are installed, which is why Lex suggested doing the Large Upgrade.

Ok, will try to remember that.  It was a new board, clean 1.1.13 default, and has been offline around 20 hours now.  Couldn't make things much worse.

I did a clean reinstall upgrade..Nothing.

Surely I have lost all my stuff and the forums are gone. Can't SMF test the packages regularly before releasing them and ruining peoples forum.

bennyaka

I think it's the host...Because now the host is doing the same thing.

Can you make a clean html test page, call it test.htm, and upload it to your root?  Would be interesting to see if anything at all will run on your host account.

Have you contacted host support?  Their site is running ok.

Ye ok..

I mean their forum is down and says the same as me.

Sir Osis of Liver

Just looked - their forum is running.  Try uploading a test page and see what happens.

Can you be more spesific about the mod you removed. Internal server error is a serious thing, takes time
to investigate when the forum is down.
In my case (today) it was crawltrack mod aside from smf mod site, modified permissions and caused internal server error issue.(the reason being: All the files/directories should have permissions not more than 755 i.e. directories with 777 permissions and files with 666 permissions will result in Internal Server Error.)

Maybe I did something wrong, in a situation where smf was down, you have to be in a hurry. I removed everthing related to the mod ( Db and the dir), used an unmodifed index.php and recovered my site.

Hi bennyaka, have you been able to sort this all out or do you still need assistance with this?

teos55, usually in case of 500 errors - it's best to see the server error log immediately to find out what caused it.
If it is simply the file permissions that caused it, it's simple to fix; Just chmod the files 755  or lower :)
