I am sing SMF 2 RC 5 .
Using the package manager i installed some mods.
The package manager said it was installed without any problem.
However I can not see the changes made by them.
Can anyone help me.

kat

You'll get better help, King, if you post in the mod's support topic, because they'll know a lot more about how the mod's coded, there.

:)

Telling us what the mods where might help.

One was Profile Commentshttp://mods.simplemachines.org/index.php?mod=436 and the other was VB style Board indexhttp://mods.simplemachines.org/index.php?mod=436

Both of those links are for the profile comments mod.....

Illori

it may be related to your file permissions if you have a linux server. have you tried to reset file permissions? admin -> package manager -> file permissions you can use a predefined permission profile if you dont know what do to here

King N

I tried the file permissions and that too doesnt make any mod work.
Help Please

Illori

can you ask your host to verify your ownership of your files?

King N

Does that mean chowing
If yes then i can.

Illori

King N

Requested CHown
Requested will be finished in 10 minutes

King N

Illori

does that help the mod to install and work?

Illori

then i am not sure what the issue could be, sorry.

King N

Then can you suggest any good host which supports smf and is free

Illori

you can check the hosting board, there is a list of free hosts there as well. but no host actually supports smf, they will just provide the hosting for you to use.

King N

Thats true
Would they support mods too

Illori

if configured correctly it should not be a problem but the above statement applies here as well.

King N

UEUO.com
They give autoinstaller for smf 2.0 RC 3
However i installed RC 5 from scratch myself

aishaweb

I'll make a test account there, see what happens.

By the way, i use this free host and have no issues:
https://www.hostt.net/cart.php?a=add&pid=1

i just tried to upload a zip to ueuo, its very, very slow and timed out before it uploaded.

The host i linked to uses cpanel and is faster.

By the way, free hosts are ok to start with, to get to know your way around and learn stuff, they are very rarely, if ever, suitable for anything more than that.

King N

i would be updating to CrocWebs in some months
Just let me get some money

King N

The host you provided is awesome.
Thanks from my Heart
