Custom Fields - Registration and Profile

Hi,

i had a similar thread open somewhere but unable to find it but, i have found how to add a customer profile and registration field but i was looking to add an item with 4 options which i've done but i have to select one of the options as the default is there anyway to have the drop down box default to blank or a - without allowing this to be an allowed option?

I can see putting an option as a - but then the users can select this as a valid option?
