Need to Upgrade from RC2 to RC4 but I have Packages Problems

My site runs smoothly in all areas except when I go to the Admin Panel & click Packages I go to a totally white screen.  I have no way to get to any of my mods.  I have been meaning to fix but just haven't gotten around to it.  I am wondering the best way I can take care of both of these issues at once.  I don't care if I lose my MODS & am willing to install them all anew.  The only thing I would like to not lose if my custom smiley set as that took me a long time to get in place.

Also I have another site piggybacked off of my main site & I would like to totally remove that site as I am shutting it down.  Is this a simple maneuver that I can achieve by just deleting a folder or 2?


If you could talk to me like I am a bit of a novice as I have not fooled with much behind the scenes in awhile but I am hoping it will come back to me just like riding a bike
