Making Avatar Selection Mandatory

Can you tell me how to make selecting an avatar mandatory for registration?

There is no setting in SMF to force a member to use an avatar.

I use this - generic avatars mod which gives several different generic avatars for members who have not selected one. If they have selected their gender then that changes one too. There is one for guests too.

It's not been updated for several versions so you'll have to install via emulation and then do a manual edit, or install it entirely manually.
