So my forum was recently bombarded with 0 posters becomming 1k+ posters in a day. All spam.


I am aware that there are anti-spam mods, but I was wondering what ones worked best for you.

I don't use any mods. I simply set recapcha level to 3+ and it works like a charm. It really does. I don't get a single bot.
This feature is native to SMF and can be enabled via admin pane.

Simply set it to Medium - overlapping colored letters, with noise/lines
You can also set "Verification Questions" which is found on the same page.

also to add some verification questions which is on the same page linked above. these questions if not too general are known to help keep spammers off forums. also the captcha is known to have been broken by bots so it is not as useful as it used to be.

I really like httpBL myself, although it is not a 100% perfect way to stop spammers, it still works very well - and all the better the more people use it
