Copying only Boards and Catagories

Hmm , title says it but i don't want to copy the comments and threads in it

Only the boards and catagories and its detailes...

log in with your php admin - you can export the single files for the boards and categories - export each one  - one at a time - not together to be safe.

smf_boards
smf_categories

then on your new site and database - log into php admin - delete the same name of the boards / categories - and import the saved versions you have.

I did it this way and it worked for me.

back up everything before doing this

I'm not sure what are the exact tables in the database but i would probably go about this using phpmyadmin and then select the tables that i would not want to copy and "drop" them, so they will be deleted, leaving only what you need. then you can download these tables. i'm not a master coder, so i would probably use the simpler techniques to achieve the same thing, although a bit longer.

Here is my suggestion. You create a new forum with a different prefix, and then import these selected tables. Then delete the duplicate tables with the new prefix and finally rename the imported data tables to the new prefix. That should work, although your new smf forum should be exactly the same version as your imported forum, to minimize the risk of crashes or incompatibilities.
