User made smileys

I've seen on some forums, a smiley with a placard which the user can write their own message on. It's inputted into the posting box by using some code (given by a button similar to the hyperlink/image insert etc, buttons) and then writing the message between the code.
Is this possible in smf?

The smiley itself seems to go by the name of schildhalter.gif but I've searched on here and googled but can't seem to get any more info.

Is it compatible with smf and if so, is it easy to put in???

Gosh - I will have another look and see if I can see some instructions that I've got half a chance of understanding

It'll be a big job, I suspect. Especially if you're not a coder (I'm definitely not).

Well if you think it will be a big job then it's not for me, I need to start with easy stuff
Although I only want the top one really and maybe the devil one too.

I think I will put it on my list of things to ask someone to do for me (paid probably!) once I've upgraded to SMF2.0.

Looking at it, I believe that it COULD be made in to a mod.

It's whether someone's willing to take that on, coz it does look like quite a job, to me.
