why dont you wait till 2.0 comes out and upgrade to it, that will for sure resolve your issue.

Sorry I don't understand, I'm using RC3. I know I should probably upgrade but I like RC3. Well thanks for your help, I do really appreciate it, just frustrated that overwriting the files and restoring the backup hasn't solved it. I'll keep searching for an answer on google, as someone else must have had this problem at some point and maybe I can work it out.

I've fixed the problem as far as uploading a new theme based on the curve layout.

It's obviously not an ideal solution but it's worked, the copyright is back again in it's original place (what worries me is why it disappeared in the first place, as it probably wasn't the headers/footers mod after all).
