Portion of Header + Message Icons

I am looking to remove the circled portion of the header on my theme, as well as the message icons.  I know there is a message icon removal mod out there, however it doesn't currently work with SMF2 RC 5.  I am fine with just killing the visible column itself and leaving the message icon option still available in the posting form.

I am currently running SMF2 RC 5 w/ Blackrain V2 Theme and the forums link is hxxp:forums.paradoxhorde.net [nonactive] if you want to view the forums themselves.

Any help in this would be greatly appreciated as I'm a total noob when it comes to this forum modifying stuff.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT - Forgot to attach my index.template.php so attaching it now.

2nd EDIT - Attaching MessageIndex.template.php

This will get rid of the top bar. I think the other file will be MessageIndex.template.php file. Does that theme have one? If so, attach that, if not, it will be in Themes/default/

I added in the messageindex.template.php to the main post.

The change you provide did kill the top header, but broke the rest of the layout partially.  Attaching a screenshot so you can see.

Yup...sorry about that. Deleted one line too many. Try this one on for size.

Oh, and I think this will remove the message icon column.

Looks like the index.template.php worked like a charm, thanks for that!  However if you look at the messageindex.template.php changes you can see it's just a biiiiiit off

New one works good!  Thanks!   Just curious, if I wanted to change the width of the column circled where in the code would I go for that?  I will probably want to tweak a couple of things to make it look a little more uniform in width.

That column is line 159:
<th width="9%" class="catbg3 headerpadding">&nbsp;</th>
I yanked out colspan="2" from that and based on that, you can certainly increase that. The next few lines control the rest of the widths, too.

Thanks a lot for all your help on this.  Getting the site to look the way I want it.  Cheers!
