Hi guys, I'm getting a constant error that crashes my forum completely, I haven't make any changes lately, make my forum maintenance periodically.... the error is this:

Lainaa2: strftime() [<a href='function.strftime'>function.strftime</a>]: It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'UTC' for 'GMT/0.0/no DST' instead

What shlould I do to recover my forum and not get crashed so often? Don't understand where do I have to config my timezone setting manually.

Thanks in advanced!!!

Locate the file php.ini (The default location is etc/php.ini)

Search for 'timezone' in that file.

Change:

;date.timezone =

to

date.timezone = "England/Manchester" (Or whatever specific timezone you are in).

Illori

most hosts do not allow you to edit php.ini so you may need to put in a support ticket to your host for them to fix the issue.

Really?

I've never had a host that doesn't.

(Only ever had three, though)

Illori

by editing that file incorrectly you risk breaking your whole server, which is one reason why most hosts do not allow you to edit that file. also since that file controls a good part of the whole server if you were to edit it incorrectly and break the server the others on that server would not be happy that the server crashed.

Ah. Best for them to be safe and a bit idiot-proof, then.

Ta, darlin'!

Wrong. In most setups, php.ini affects only your account and the directory it's in (and all directories under it), so most hosts do allow you to edit your own. You're thinking of system-wide or server-wide files like httpd.conf. It's understandable that a host wouldn't want you touching that. In the end, it all depends on how your server is set up, so ask your host what you can (and can't) do.

More often than not, you're allowed to play with php.ini to your heart's content.

Thanks to all of you.

I'll be talking to my host ASAP so they can make the proper changes....

A new thing has come..... it's impossible to post in the forum nor send PM's

Lainaa/var/www/vhosts/zonablanquiazul.com/httpdocs/forum/Themes/default/languages/Post.spanish.php (main sub template - eval?)

Now the problem is in the language folder???

MrPhil

Install the mod to "disable eval" and turn off eval. Get some new error messages with the correct file and line number (that do not mention "eval").
