Child Forums Question

When a user posts in the child forums, is there a way to get that to count in the column on the right, to count towards posts and topics tally.  I can't find it rummaging around through the PHP files.  Or is this just the way SMF is setup?  Thanks!

Admin > Manage Boards and Categories. You'll see a check box for "Count child's posts in parent's totals". That combines the children with the parent totals assuming that Count Posts is enabled for all children and parent.
