i have tried reuploading in the appropriate files the images, but still nothing.

im sure its a simple case of, as my wife calls it, i gave it a 'boy look'... simply glancing over what i should have read more in depth.

but items such as:

Mark Read Notify New Topic Post new poll

« previous next »
Reply Notify Mark unread Send this topic Print Add as Article

Move Topic Remove Topic Lock topic Set topic sticky Merge Topics

all show as text...

what am i missing here?

i just upgraded to 1.1.13

and as a heads up... i know its not recommended you change the default theme.  but given the number of times i have goofed, i have made sure to only mess with the style.css file and theme images.

i have made no edits to the php files manually, only mod installs.

i opened the pages in chrome and it shows a missing icon... i open image in different window... i get the following...

/forum/Themes/default/images/english-utf8/markread.gif was not found on this server

thing is, there is no english utf8, file in my theme default image folder.  as a matter of fact, now i recollect, i removed all language files aside from english.

i know i do have the forum in the english language string as the utf8 strings muck up the site.  things disappear etc..

if this helps

That looks like a custom theme - have you contacted the author?

If you switch back to default theme, does the problem persist?

no, its actually my default theme.

i took the bold move of editing the image files for a different look.

Uploading image problems...

Sounds like you might be using Filezilla.

Try uploading them, again. But, before you do, make sure "Transfer type" is set to "binary", NOT "auto".

thank you, will try that out. and yes, filezilla.

EDIT:

i tried the file transfer in binary and its the same thing.  but i can confirm the transfer worked as guests can now see the default icons in the english file, rather than my edited buttons

Ok, K@ - the path to the image files is in Server Settings, and the image calls are in the templates, so why do guests and logged users see different things?

bump for stoopidness on my part.

still trying to solve this issue.

these buttons are the only ones that do not show, as a registered user.

everything else is grand.

i was crossing my fingers big time, the solution would be that easy...
afraid not.

i even cleared my browser cache after, and refreshed...

but thank you though..

have i missed anything i should mention?

Nickhead

i must reiterate as well:

i did delete all language files other than english.

i only mention as i encountered a url string that included utf 8/english, which i do not have that file.

Can you arrange a test account, so we can see this in action?

Maybe direct us to one of these norty images, too?

Nickhead

interestingly enough.

i was going to provide you with a test account.

i logged into it to confirm the password,

and guess what...

the icons are there

but not for me as admin...

will go back and see if i can find my issue.

can you verify that your admin account is using the same language and same theme as new users on your forum?

Nickhead

yeah, we all have english only.

and i went into my profile, and theme is the same as everyone else.

Well, now.

I just visited your site and I can see every button and icon that there is.

The people that don't see them... Are they using IE a crap browser, or something?

Sir Osis of Liver

Werks gud in IE8 (most things do if they're coded properly  ;) ).  Only thing missing is 'Add Poll' button in the bottom menu of the threads.

Yeah, this image doesn't exist:

This image:

is the weirdest thing I've seen (today anyway). Broken in action on your site in IE8 (meaning the cursor is a broken red X cursor). Doesn't display as a cursor in FF at all. When viewing the full path to your image in IE8 it's a black gradient image with EITP as text. In FF, it's a reddish Join Us image. Very strange.

im using firefox when i see plain text.

when i use opera or chrome,

i see broken images.

when i log out as admin,

all three browsers show the icons.

EDIT: ive yet to have a member complain about these issues.

i even made sure my ABP was disabled.

i have to say im stumped.
