How do I add html in SMF 1.1.13?

I want to add some links to pages on my main website preferably in the panel to the left of the search bar.

As some of you may know I tried inserting a "header"  then changing the position but it caused my forum to crash.

This must be easy but I just cant find any info anywhere here.

That would be a matter of editing the index.template.php which it sounds like you have already tried to do. What code did you try to insert?

You could use the html block in any of the portals as an easy solution

I have no idea where the html block is or what you mean by a portal.

Please explain.

there's a number of modifications that add a portal design and within those they have what's called block code.

these block codes are easy to apply and merely need pasting code into the block and then assigning them to a position on the forum

see the modifications category "Portals"

Not sure a Portal is really needed here though. Sure, it would work, but would likely be akin to using a jackhammer and dynamite when really all you need is a pencil. The code provided seems to be the menu on your home page. Is that what you're after? I'm wondering if it could be integrated either below your logo image and above the SMF menu or perhaps into the menu itself?

Thats exactly what I am trying to do.  yect links rather than Buttons but either would be OK.
Below the Logo between the "Hello" and the "date time"  would be great.
Alternatively  above the forum menu to in the bar to the left of the search box.

What is the easy way to do this?

Mind attaching your index.template.php file? I'll see what I can do.

Some interesting stuff happening there on your home page (OnLoadPngFix and whatnot). This solution may not be ideal, but mind giving it a whirl and seeing if works for you? I put your main site links in the menu. Another option might be to make the main site menu items fly out under the WEBSITE tab if the width of this menu is just too wide.

Do you mean the home page of my main website or the SMF one.  I had been playing about with the SMF one today.

I have uploaded it.  What I would like is a gap between the SMF menu and the new links you have kindly added.

Yesterday you also said you would tinker with the code to centre my logo banner/header in the index.template too as I had an extra <\td> or something.

Man, I forgot about that! Sorry. Here's what I've done. Changed up your keywords pertaining to your other topic. Added some tab first and last elements, too. See if this looks OK. :)

You are an absolute star!

Thank you very much for all your help.

I now have this set up how I wanted it to look and its all down to you and your help.

except well er actually I need the spell check to work!
It is checked On in admin "Enable spell checking. You MUST have the pspell library installed on your server and your PHP configuration set up to use the pspell library. Your server DOES NOT appear to have this set up"

I have researched it on here and can confim that I have pspell library installed on the server.  It has been confirmed by my host company.

One for someone else or another day perhaps.

Hi topman, is the Spell check still an issue?

You could also have used an ad management mod as a simpler solution, which would allow you to place code at various locations inside your forum, but i guess you already solved your problem through manual edits. :)

Yes still a problem and I have tried everything!!!!

It is turned on in SMF.
It is set to English.
The database and server are set to English

Matsby did it for me.  I wouldnt know where to begin with manual edits!

I did wonder whether you could add html using ad management mod or the header and footer one.

Hope this is what you need.

Otherwise yes, but it should be a .php file - and should display some information about your server config :)

EDIT: I see I was slow ;)
