User can not upload attachment 2.0RC5

Greetings,

I found out that a user (me as admin included) cannot upload any attachment into a forum post.

Checking the log it says it is a critical error. But it does not say how to solve it.

Anybody an idea where to look?

Check there in your forum (replace yourforum with your forum name) whether the attachments are enabled or not.

Also what mods do you have installed?
Whats the error in error log?

Error is posted under 'critical' in the log. Message (translation from Dutch): 'Something went wrong while uploading attachment, please try again.' Other info logged is my IP, Username and sessionname. That's all.

Any idea?

Post the error in Dutch language here.


Also try to fix the forum through

Administration Center » Forum Maintenance » Routine » Find and repair any errors.


Most probably either the path is not valid or the size of attachment allowed is small.

The message in Dutch: 'Er is iets fout gegaan bij het wegschrijven van je bijlage, probeer het alsjeblieft nog eens.'

Fixing the forum as mentioned does not help.

Try to set attachment size to zero ('no limit') - does not help.

Path seems ok to me: .../home/jamaifrm/public_html/attachments

I think the error is trying to say

$txt['attach_timeout'] = 'Your attachment couldn\'t be saved. This might happen because it took too long to upload or the file is bigger than the server will allow.<br /><br />Please consult your server administrator for more information.';

I think you should contact your host once and ask him about the size they have allowed.

P.S what sort of file were you trying to upload and it's size?

That's it. I checked the PHP configuration of my host: Max upload size is 2Mb.
So nothing wrong with my SMF installation anyway.
