1.  The files in the downloads are incorrect and point to the wrong files.

2.  When trying you upgrade using upgrade.zip or update.zip for SMF RC5 I get the following error although the files are not empty...

LainaaAn Error Has Occurred!
Package upload failed due to the following error:
"Although the package was downloaded to the server it appears to be empty. Please check the Packages directory, and the "temp" sub-directory are both writable. If you continue to experience this problem you should try extracting the package on your PC and uploading the extracted files into a subdirectory in your Packages directory and try again. For example, if the package was called shout.tar.gz you should:
1) Download the package to your local PC and extract it into files.
2) Using an FTP client create a new directory in your "Packages" folder, in this example you may call it "shout".
3) Upload all the files from the extracted package to this directory.
4) Go back to the package manager browse page and the package will be automatically found by SMF."

Permissions are correct and the Package/files are not empty.

The fresh install download works just fine, so far.

Hello there.

How do you mean that "files in the downloads are incorrect"?

As there is still no official announcement in news board, i would firstly wait for it before upgrade/install smf 2.0.

Regards.

I should note, there is no package to upgrade from 2.0 RC5 to 2.0 final using Package Manger. You'll have to use the Large Upgrade package.

Do not perform the upgrade in your package manager. upload the files to your root directory and go to yoursiteurl/upgrade.php

LOL, I should have mentioned that I was using Packages to upgrade. Forgot that part... However, there will be many that will try this, as is expected.

I was just going to test uploading them via ftp but there should not be a reason why the upgrades should not work via Packages. :P

Kindred

yes, there is a very good reason...      because there is NO UPGRADE PACKAGE FOR 2.0! The large upgrade ZIP file is not a package manage package. It must be done by copying files from the archive to your server and running upgrade.php.

Maybe I'm incorrect here but hasn't this been done this way for a lot of years? I know I've done it and so have countless others. This is something new correct?

Kindred

major version upgrades (1.1.x to 2.0) and RC upgrades have NEVER been available as package manager packages (and probably will never be)

Ok, got it. Am so used to the minor upgrades, perhaps. LOL

Thanks for clearing that up. :)

EDIT: and the downloads are pointing to the correct files now.  ;D
