A big kudos to the past and current SMF team! It was a long tough battle to get through, but with a little persistence you all managed to make the release of 2.0 finally happen.

I know people will already be thinking ahead to the future at what comes next, but please take just a moment to appreciate the product we have now. It appears to be stable, secure, fast and customizable with a large selection of mods and themes contributed by many people from the community and SMF team. Most important, SMF is free, and it always will be.

It was a good time serving the SMF team for many years and I couldn't be more happy signing my name to finalize the transfer to an NPO. I think Simple Machines will have a bright future to come. The BSD license change will likely make things interesting and exciting for years to come!

Best of luck! Here's to 2.0!

Awesome work! Sadly for now I will probably stick to 1.1.14, though, because I worked quite hard on some of my forum themes, so I would rather wait until there's a 100% reliable 1.1.x to 2.0 theme converter.

Unlikely... The theme system in 2.0 is significantly different and has much less "code" in it. 2.0 themes try to focus on the template and not on the functions.

Is there any information on the two security related fixes in 2.0 ("login protection" and "possibility of real name spoofing") that would allow people who want to wait to make sure that their mods are 2.0 Gold compatible before upgrading to patch just the security holes immediately?

Not really...

Please do not PM, IM or Email me with support questions.  You will get better and faster responses in the support boards.  Thank you.

Honestly, that is very unlikely to ever happen. However, since most themes are really fairly minor changes to default (images, css and index.template.php being the most common) it isn't all that hard to recreate a 1.1.x theme in 2.0, as long as you have some basic coding knowledge and a bit of persistence.

You'll probably find that most mods which work with RC4 and RC5 will also work with 2.0 Final, as long as you use version emulation. If there are any which are particularly important to you, set up a test site running 2.0 Final and try installing your mods on that first.

I think one links to the site, one links to the copyright, and I can't remember what the third links to xD

Sorry my Russian. ;)

The help on the wiki hasn't been translated into all languages yet. If you want to go back to using the old system until the wiki is translated, install this mod: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=3043

You will still be able to get the old Russian help files to go with that mod.

ETA: Third link is to the license itself.
