When I went to look at the packages menu in the Admin files, there was a notice there to update my forum to 1.1.14 (I'm running 1.1.13 now) but I keep getting this error message:

Installations actions for "SMF 1.1.14 Update":
The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF.

Can anyone tell me what's going on here? I've never had a problem with an update before.

Can you please try to download the patch from here: http://custom.simplemachines.org/upgrades/ and upload it to package manager?

I've downloaded the file but I guess I'll have to hunt around to find it. Don't know where it went. I wish we had the resourse to select what directory we want to put it in.

You do. That's controlled by your browser settings. IIRC, Firefox will send downloads to My Documents/Downloads by default, but you can change it to suit yourself (Tools > Options > General).

BTW, I just ran a 1.1.13 > 1.1.14 upgrade using the link in SMF admin, and the package was fine. Not sure offhand why it came up as corrupted for you.

do you have a version emulation mod installed on your forum? if so make sure to reset it to the current version before applying the upgrade.

Yes I do have the emulator, but it only goes up to 1.1.0 so it's of no use for this.

then uninstall it and check for an update of the mod once you have installed the upgrade.

Well, after all this time trying, I still can't get the upgrade to work. It still tells me the file is corrupt. I'm out of ideas and need help badly.
Can someone tell me whats I'm missing here? I want the upgrade badly.

you can always override your files with the large upgrade package then reinstall your mods after
