I just started with SMF and now the Gold edition hits

Literally, I just installed this forum on my site 2 days ago. Not even enough time to register my first user.

Now this Gold edition has been released and I am not sure what to do or even if I should do anything. On one hand I have posts on here stating they are going to stick with 1.1.14 (or something like that) and OTOH, I have folks stating that all themes upgrades etc. will be the starting point for all support from here on out. Yet, with this just being released yesterday can there be that much already out there for gold?

I loved the quickinstall that came with my host gator acct. and if I am reading it correctly, nothing like that exists for the gold version. Double click, confirmation e-mail, sign in, done.

Can someone PLEASE break it down to me, what should my next step be?

as it's an empty forum just delete the database and forum files and reinstall

Hello there and welcome to smf community.

If your host dont have smf 2.0 in a form of quick install, i would suggest to manually install smf, by following simply steps.
Installing SMF

Note that we highly recommend to upgrade to 2.0 as RC5 version have some security issues.

Considering that SMF 2.0 has just been released, it most likely won't be available through the one-click installer just yet. Installing SMF manually is fairly easy and the document Dzonny linked to would guide you through it. If you get stuck along the line, feel free to post back and we'll help you.
