Trying to upgrade from 1.1.13 to 2.0...what am I missing here?

I'm trying to upgrade from 1.1.13 to 2.0.

I downloaded the "Large Upgrade" package but when I upload it to a test forum, I get the message "The package you tried to upload either is not a valid package or has become corrupted."

PHP si set to allow a 5M upload, so that's not the problem. The directories are all CHMOD 777, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Or am I misunderstanding this...I was under the impression that it was indeed possible to go from 1.1.11 to 2.x. Am I mistaken, or is something wonky going on with my upgrade?
