Illori

sounds like you did not override the files or you put them in the wrong place

mrpike

Maybe I put them in the wrong place....

mrpike

Can I just put them in the right place now?

Or do I have to find them and delete them?

Illori

i would suggest deleting the old in case you have a storage limit on your host. and upload them to the correct location overriding the existing files.

mrpike

So I think I used the installer instead of the upgrade, how do I redo this?

Illori

upload the files from the large upgrade package over what you did already.

mrpike

It's not letting me, it gives me a circle with a cross through it.

Illori

no idea what that means, at this point i am not sure what else to tell you.

mrpike

I think I figured it out.
The files are currently being uploaded.

Are all my posts gone now because I did the install instead of the upgrade?

Illori

you will know when the upgrade is complete, worst case you can always restore your backup of the database and run the upgrade script again.

mrpike

Ok cool, thanks for the help.

mrpike

So when I type www.mysite.com/forum/upgrade.php it brings me to the installer page?

Is this correct?

Illori

it should be an upgrader not an installer

mrpike

Yeah thats what I thought too, but when I type "upgrade.php" it brings me to "install.php"

Illori

delete install.php and try again

mrpike

I'm currently overwriting my forum again  :( to see if I can get the upgrade.php to work. If it doesn't I will look for the install.php and delete it.

virtualdave

It's working allright, there for all the world to see too. You ought fill in the info and get that sucker deleted. I believe it is a security risk having that hanging out there like that.

mrpike

this is the message I'm getting.
Unable to connect to database - please check username and password are correct in Settings.php

Illori

upload your settings.php file from your backup to your server and ignore virtualdave as he did not check the link you provided to see it is fake

mrpike

where is my settings.php file?
