I was trying the webinstall.php method.
I got the file uploaded to the root directory.

I go to mysite/webinstall.php and it loads up the interface.

/home/content/31/7837531/html/forums
is listed as the install path.

I put in my username and pass for ftp (verified it is correct)
And hit connect..

I get the following error..
"Sorry, the FTP path you entered wasn't the same place as this installer was uploaded to."

So I loaded settings_repair to see what the path was..
And it is the same..

/home/content/31/7837531/html/forums

I have no Idea what the problem could be..any Ideas?

I changed all the permissions on the required files (as per the white page) thinking I could bypass the ftp but it was a no go..

Thanks for your help
Brian

Hi, Brian and welcome to the funny-farm. ;)

I have to be honest, here.

I've never had total faith in he ol' webinstall thing, myself.

Do you have any problems with doing it the good, old-fashioned way?

FTP can't see the complete path, so you need to give it a path it can see.
If you login to FTP, and see that you land in /home/content/31/7837531/ then the FTP path your install would be /html/forums, and if when you log in to FTP you land in /home/content/31/7837531/html then the FTP path would be /forums :)

So try these paths on for size and one of them will surely work ;)

Can somebody explain how the path is read?
No combination works for me.  I am on FreeBSD server.
This is very frustrating.
All the time I have in I might as well have started from scratch.

The install path is the full file path, but in FTP related operations, the FTP path is only the part of the path you can actually enter through your FTP account (since normally FTP is limited to web accessible directories only, and can not see the path above it.)
