Block PM's

I have SMF 2.0 RC3 with RC4 Security patch

Is there a way to block PM's from other members?


I created 2 test accounts, and went to Profile>>Modify Profile>>Buddies/Ignore List and added one to the Ignore List, but STILL received PM's from test account 1 to test account 2.


I searched Mods and saw nothing.

Yes, but I created 2 new accounts ...... like test 1 and test 2


I gave them both 20 posts so they would be a normal member and then test1 blocked test2, but STILL got a test PM from test2.

IIRC this was a bug in RC3, its fixed on RC4 and later versions,  a user can send pm to me even if that user is on my ignore list.

Absolutely correct! The fix is to upgrade.

Well then it WILL NOT get fixed, as I have my forum just like I want it, except for this one small problem.
I would upgrade to 2.0 Gold, but I will NEVER get it back like it is now!


If somebody that knows what the bug fix is, I would like to make that one little modification.

So upgrading is out of the question then. I would suggest replacing your PM files but that may break more, like a mod or whatnot. Hmm, I wonder what a unified diff patch would say. Gonna get it now, BRB

My new members ask why I have so much security.....I tell them it is to block LulzSec!


Actually I say spambots, BUT I have NO spam......not even human (except for my 9yo members)




I only have one member wanting to block another member, and if somebody can't tell me what I need to do, I will manually take care of the offender as we have rules against spamming PM boxes.


I wish somebody could tell me how to fix it tho.

Hmm, try this. This regular SMF package was generated from a diff comparing PersonalMessage.php. Untested, so may or may not work.. So make sure you back that file up before proceeding!

Yeah. That particular bug bit me and another member back when I co-admined a RC3 forum. We upgrade soon after to get rid of the bug and RC4 was out anyway.

AND 5000 more started......I have a heavily modified theme, that may/maynot (probably not)  compatible with 2.0 gold.


Last time I upgraded...I NEVER, EVER, NOT TO THIS DAY got my forum back like it was!!!!!!!!


I have IT the way I like it, (EXCEPT FOR THIS PROBLEM) and if nobody can tell me how to fix it, then the damn thing WILL STAY BROKEN!!!!


I may upgrade when ALL these mods are for 2.0 gold, and I have about 20 hand written that will need to be put BACK IN BY HAND,...... this is CRAP (mild form of proper word) that I have to lose EVERYTHING every few months because of upgrades!
