When I click on the link in admin, "It is recommended that you update your forum to the latest version as soon as possible." it gets this message on an error page.

"You don't have permission to access /forum/index.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

---------------------------------------------

Apache mod_fcgid/2.3.5 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at domain.com Port 80"

This was a cpanel install done with not-so-Fantastico. Upgrading DirectAdmin forums went without a hitch.

I've no idea why there should be a 404 because that is where the forum index is.

Any ideas what is causing this?

The site is password protected and not available to the public. I am logged in and can go to any pages without a problem.

Um.... i think you must go to your ftp set all to 777 permission ...

Sorry if i was not helpful .. i am still learning from my problems :D

Illori

no chmod them 755 and files 644 and it should work, 777 is most likely what is giving this error.

I haven't changed the permissions at all on this forum. They should be all at default. I just checked and every file seems to be at 755. No 777s at all.

I keep seeing chmod but am not sure what it means.

Still have the same problem, and get the same error message when I try to upgrade.

folders=755 files=644 and see if that helps

RoflGuy

Then i am right about that the problem is at permissions?  wohoho i am getting better ;D

GL m8 , but i got all 777 and its working fine >.<

Don't forget to set to all subfolders and files..

Illori

777 will only work on certain server configurations, 755 and 644 should work on almost all server configurations and be a bit more secure then 777

Just woke up, and went through everything. I changed all the files to 644. That was quite a lot to go through. I did go into all the sub folders. The folders were 755, left them unchanged.

There were about 40 language sub folders in each of the babylon and classic themes, and I just deleted the whole theme. Who needs it?

And tried it again and still get the same error message. I went through everything about 3 times to make sure it had all been changed.

It's a bit off this topic, but I found more things about cpanel that are really bad compared to DirectAdmin. You can't even see the whole file path of where you are when you get a couple folders into smf. Completely amazing how crummy it is compared to DA.
