Change the Forum icon and shortcut icon

I'm using smf 1.1.14 on Windows 7 64 bit with FireFox.  The tab icon for the forum is a blank, as is the shortcut icon in the address bar.  I have an icon that I used for the rest of my site, and I would like to use it for the forum, too.  So, how?  My community search was unfruitful.

are you talking about favicon?
make an icon format image and name it favicon, recommend using 32x32, IE doesn't accept 64x64
upload it in ur root directory, then browser will automatic catch it

is it an icon format? is it 32x32? is it named favicon?
or maybe it just need sometime for the browser the update the information

Most browsers pick up the favicon automatically. I recommend the favicon.ico route as it requires no code on the site at all. You can make one here:
