Greetings

http://commissionedwriting.com/Forums/index.php

Since the past 50 minutes or so, we have been facing problems with our SMF forums linked above, the software for which came bundled with our web hosting package.

Initially, we could not access the Forums altogether.

After about 20 minutes, the Forums became accessible, but we could not, and still cxannot access user profiles nor the ADMIN area.

Every time we try to access the ADMIN are, we get this error message:

8: Undefined index: global_announcements_mods
File: /home/commi11/public_html/Forums/Sources/Subs.php
Line: 2864

Our Forums have been facing massive spamming attacks during the past two weeks. We have had to ban dozens of delinquents every day.

We need:

1. A reassurance that the issues we are facing are due to some problem either with the SMF softwre, or with our database at our host.

2. If, there is some possibility that the Forums have been hacked, what should we do to recalim control.

All help will be gratefully appreciated.

Both of the problems you're experiencing (unable to access the admin center and unable to access user profiles) are due to mods you've installed. If you can attach your copies of Subs.php and Profile.template.php, I can remove the broken code for you.

The spam issue is something that's affecting everyone these days. Best way to handle that is to install the Anti-Spam Links mod, which will prevent new users from being able to post links. Also set permissions so that new users can't edit their profiles.

How do we access Subs.php and Profile.template.php?

CWFBoardsManager

The version is 1.1.14

Everything was okay until around 14 hours ago, when some admin actions were taken the last time. About 7 or when the Forums were accessed again, Admin and profiles were unaccessible. All the rest seems okay.

The last admin actions mentioned above were banning a few delinquents.

The profile page shows up truncated, and without the footer.

If I attempt to track a user or a user's IP I get this message

Database Error: Table './commi11_smf2/smf_log_errors' is marked as crashed and should be repaired
File: /home/commi11/public_html/Forums/Sources/Profile.php

Illori

please do not attach your database to a post, this leaves people able to take all your forum data and possibly even start a new forum based on it. if you search the forum for the error message you posted above you will find several threads with solutions to your issue.

Thanks for that advice. It will be heeded.

Maybe I am dense, but I have not been able to alight on something that could be a remedy to our problem. Could you please link me to something?

CWFBoardsManager

Thanks to the invaluable help received from Illori, the issue has been resolved.
