We accesed the Raw Access logs for our Forums and found these most errors errors there.

Since we all are not software savvy we do not comprehend what they say. Could some one guide please?


The issue we are facing is that we cannot access the ADMIN area nor the profile pages.

We suspect there has been some hacking. How do we set things right?

i think the error is in this file: Sources/Subs-GlobalAnnouncementsAdmin.php
it would help if you could attach it to a posting so someone can take a look at it.

Make sure the file is not chmodded 777 or "writable to all" but instead 755 or lower.

We have edited the file and set the permissions to 644 but still cannot access the Admin area. We logged out from SMF and re-logged in but we cannot access the Admin area.

sounds like the mod did not install correctly or more then one mod and there may be conflicts in the code causing issues. do you get any errors on the page or just a white page? do you have a recent file backup?

We get the above error message on an otherwise blank white page when we click ADMIN

We get this when we click a Member'sprofile. The profile page is thrown up truncated, showing user name, number of posts, position, and then the above error message. We cannot track the user, the user's IP etc. User stats are displayed.

admin -> server settings check disable evaluation of templates save the page and report back any errors without eval in them.

Hacking attempt...

means.

Whenever I click our Forums' URL after clicking any file in /public_html/Forums/Sources/ a new window opens which has the above message.

What's the scene if we delete these Forums altogether? Is there any chance we can use the databases for these Forums to set up new Forums with a different name?

if you remove all files BUT settings.php and settings_bak.php you can upload all the files from the large upgrade pack and have your forum back to normal. you could also try restoring a backup from http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=400356.0

or kill everything but the database, install into another database (or with another db_prefix if you only have one db) and then use the repair_setting.php from http://download.simplemachines.org/?tools to set the forum to use the old db.

We don't mind doing any amount of work as long as we can recover control of the Forums, and be reasonably sure we haven't left room for such a screw-up again.

assuming you are using 1.1.14 http://download.simplemachines.org/?archive;version=62

and remember to do file backups before applying ANY mods. as well as database.
