Can't change theme

I upgraded to 2.0, had to ditch my Dilber theme.  I downloaded, ftped to the server and then installed Curve Minimal and Impulse themes (both compatible with 2.0). However, I cannot change the default theme via the Theme and Layout Settings>Manage and Install section.  I had to go into the Current Theme and manually change the path names to change the theme.    It was stuck on Yaab Classic.

Did you set your personal theme preference on "Forum Default"?

Thanks for the welcome. I'm actually been using SMF for at least four years and have a huge forum.

Do you mean have I  changed the forum default theme under "Manage and Install" as the Overall Forum Default or under Install a New Theme>Create a copy of DeFault Named: ?    I did the first, did not do the second.   If I need to do second, should I uninstall theme and reinstall naming it as forum default?
