cannot install SMF 2.0 at MySQL 4.0.26

I cannot install SMF 2.0
plz help
I get the following message
Critical Error!
The version of your database server is very old, and does not meet SMF's minimum requirements.

Please ask your host to either upgrade it or supply a new one, and if they won't, please try a different host.

I asked my host and they told that the my account is on MySQL  4.0.26
what should I do

Ask them to upgrade to the latest MySQL, or find a new host. How a host can use such an old version of MySQL is beyond me.

Very good question of who is still using MySQL 4.

I'm using MySQL 5.0.2 w/ SMF 2.0 no errors

according to the following page MySQL 4.0.18 or higher (at least 4.1.0 would be better) and PHP MySQL client API version 4.0.18 or higher.

Mysql 4.0.26  is better than the required version so why I cannot install

did you verify the mysql client API version?

mySQL 4.x isn't used by any quailty hosts because of multiple reasons.

It's best if you change host because your current host doesn't seem like a good one to me.
