I have a forum with 1.1.14.
I have a Japanese member. some members can read his posts in Japanese characters some cannot. I cannot, one of my admins can.
Ideas?
Thanks
Dave

It can be due to language settings of members

Thank you. How do I change language settings? I do not see anything in the Admin center to do this.

also their system needs to be able to read the language, some browsers may have issues with it.

What do you see where there are supposed to be Japanese (Kanji, Hiragana, or Katakana) text? Is it nothing, wrong characters (e.g., some form of Latin alphabet), or boxes with hex codes in them? It may be as simple as not having the appropriate font installed to support such alphabets. Not all browsers come with Asian language fonts preinstalled, since they're so large.

I presume that  you have installed the appropriate language support package(s) in SMF, which gives you the "canned text" (prompts and labels) in that language and permits it to be selected. It will probably throw you into UTF-8 mode -- which means your database will have to be converted to UTF-8 and your English text will have to use the UTF-8 version.
