I need spam protection that works!

I know there seemed to be a problem a few weeks ago, but i've put every kind of protection in and opened up the registration up again and 'bang' spam ... loads of it.

have you checked the anti-spam mods on the mod site?

all upgraded last week. opened up the registrations again and i'm getting spam, spam, spam

yes i've checked the mods. I spent a few weeks on this, and still the spam is flooding in Illori! I put a freeze on the registration which slowed down the spam, but bots were still able to register. I thought with combo of Recaptcha and Honeypot, things would be better. but since re-estbalishing the registration things have just carried on.

google adsense have suspended my account because I had porn on my forum, which isn' good. the whole thing has been annoying to say the least. I'm tyring to sell my site for a lot of serious money, but i can't sell it with loads of spam on it ... doesn't look very attractive!

please point me to any other mods.

then the mods you are using are not working or not installed correctly. try posting in their support threads to find out why.

Some spammers are just humans,so there is no any mod,which could stop such spammers and if you would upgrade your site to 2.0,you can use post moderation,so you can approve new member's (possible spammers) topics,before they go public

Keep experimenting to implement the most appropriate mods. Have not got any unwanted registrations\posts for 6 months+ now (1000's of spam ip visits each day, none get trough, and no sweat from my side), so it is possible to have a clean forum, don't give up.

I am having the same problem with spammers as Matt. I am running SMF 1.1.14. I went to manual approval and the spammers are driving me nuts trying to manually screen them out. Mod Anti-Spam Verification Questions for SMF 1.1.7 seems like it would probably be the best solution for me. Has anyone used it on SMF 1.1.14? Did it work ok?
