Site Not Working - URGENT Help Required

Hello,

recently I used the "optimize tables to improve performance" feature from the admin>maintenance and then my site freezed and it was in freeze condition for 30 minutes then I rebooted the server and now the site is not opening.. just a blank white page.... what can be the problem and how to fix it ?

Somebody helped me and told me to use these commands in SSH and it solved the problem

mysqlcheck -r DB_name

when complete

mysqlcheck -o DB_Name

then site worked fine.. can anybody tell me what these commands stand for ?
