Hello...I recently had to turn off registration to my forum.  I was away for a few days when I came back I had over 300 users waiting for approval...I went through all of them and they were not real users...I did however ban them.

At any given time now I still get a huge amount of guest on my board...not sure if there is something in the php forum that they search for to pull up the different forums...does anyone have any idea how to keep this down?  I have a real simple forum and it is used for prayer.

When I look at the who's on line...I sometimes see that a certain ip address is using spell checker...how can that be if the registration is turned off?

Here is a link to my board:

Thank you so much for your assistance.

check the mod site for anti-spam mods first off. second if your permissions are setup correctly the guests are ATTEMPTING actions but they dont succeed. try it yourself they will get an error message or be asked to login.

Thank you...I did try to log on and recieved an error saying registration was currently disabled.

But I did notice that the Help button works well even if you are not registratered showing you codes and how to edited profiles etc...is there a way to disable the help button unless you are logged on or a member?

Would it be better if I did not allow guest to view every board on the forum...not sure how this could help after I wrote this but just wondering how to slow the guest down.  Would an antispam stop the unwanted guest from viewing?

Thank you again...

Illori

if the guests are spammers yes it would help.
