reloaded backup forum files, now older images dont show

I had been hacked, and I reloaded the forum to make sure all the files where clean.
Now, The photos that were uploaded before the reload are not showing. they are all there.. but no show.
I loaded the repair _settings and confirmed the path, and it is right. Indeed, the photos uploaded since the reload of the forum are in the same directory as the ones that are not showing.
I get  "404 attachment not found"

Any ideas?

in what way were you hacked? what version were you running? sounds like those attachments are gone from the attachments folder, if so and you have no backup there is nothing that can be done to restore them.
