Hello,

I am using SMF 1.1.14. Recently I have changed the domain of my forum. Everything went well. Unfortunately, the links given it the topics still point to the old one. Very annoying thing. I want to point to the new one. Hope I explain the problem brief and clear. Here an example. Let say may old domain was:

hxxp://www.myforum.com

and the new one is

hxxp://www.myforum.org

The problem is that the links given in the posts still point to hxxp://www.myforum.com and that domain is closed and points to dead end. Of course I can correct the links manually one by one in every post but there are quite a lot of them. Should be an easier way. Will appreciate an advice on how to decrease my work and automatic things?

Thanks for any help and suggestion,

I will come in the same situation in a short while. Was thinking of doing this:
download (export) the smf_messages table, do a Notepad++ find\replace job, then upload (import) the fixed table. The whole process will take just a few minutes even with 1000's of links to fix (mostly table download\upload time). Should work? or any other way of doing it?

Use the repair settings tool to change the domain.

http://download.simplemachines.org/?tools

But you might need to create some kind of redirect for links in posts.

Not sure if this is practical but can anyone confirm whether setting up a re-direction in the cpanel area could also solve this?
