Theme Problem

Hello.

So I downloaded a theme layout called Curv RC5 New Generation5 a few months ago. Earlier tonight, I was in my admin area and testing out different themes, so I decided to select on Curv RC. After I selected it, I logged off, and then went to sign back in, but the main page gave me no way  to sign in.

Now I know of no way to log in through that home page. Either there has to be a way for me to log in so I can change the theme or there has to be a way for me to change the theme from my FTP.

What can I do?

riverscorpion

Also, here's a link to my forum.

www.stackemup.net

I would say go to http://www.stackemup.net/index.php?action=login but there seems to be an issue with the theme, you may need to contact the creator of the theme to get help.

<b>Fatal error</b>:  Call to undefined function JavaScriptEscape() in <b>D:\Hosting\7404858\html\Sources\Load.php(1733) : eval()'d code</b> on line <b>282</b><br />

riverscorpion

That's it? There's no way for me to change the theme through FTP? There's got to be

.

You can try running the below SQL, if you still have the default theme available then it will set it as the default theme.  Clear out your cache after running it.

UPDATE smf_settings SET value=1 WHERE variable='theme_default';

river scorpion

Thanks. I appreciate it.

I'm not sure if there is a thread on this site already for running SQLs. So I will ask some questions here.

Am I going through MySQL or SQL server or even something else? If I click on either one, there is one other database set up in MySQL but nothing set up in SQL server. So I'm guessing it's MySQL?

Am I creating a new database or restoring/backing up the database that is already there?

If create, when I click on create new database, am I putting that code into the part that says description?

ziycon

You need to log into your existing database that contains your forum, there is no need to create any new databases. Is there any option call phpmyadmin on you admin interface when you login?

river scorpion

Yup...Phpmyadmin is there.

river scorpion

Select DATABASES  -> SQL -> RUN SQL Query on Server comes up -> Enter "UPDATE smf_settings SET value=1 WHERE variable='theme_default'"  -> HIT GO?

river scorpion

If you can't solve it or answer my questions,  just say so! Just please direct me to the person above you...with more experience and knowledge. No passing the buck over to the theme developer. Unacceptable.

Do you remember which version of SMF you have? Based on where you posted this topic, can I assume it's 1.1.14? I'm guessing you installed a theme for 2.0 RC5 which would indeed cause you problems. ziycon's suggestion is rather good:
LainaaUPDATE smf_settings SET value=1 WHERE variable='theme_default';
Considering this isn't working:
http://www.stackemup.net/index.php?theme=1
Always be a little kinder than necessary.

or use repair_settings.php and just use the part to reset the themes to default which does not require access to phpmyadmin. What is repair_settings.php?

Actually it's 1.1.13. Does that make a difference?

I tried ziycon's suggestion and nothing happened.

mashby

Shouldn't make any difference, no. Try what Illori suggested next regarding repair_settings.

I went into it. recommended settings is what I did. Then I saved. there was this message:

"Some settings are not being shown because the MySQL connection information is incorrect."

wtf. I guess that means my SQL server information is wrong. Because I had changed that to the recommended, localhost. The other information is right.

Ideas?

river scorpion

Update:  Got and entered name for SQL Server.

Page was reloaded. Message came up on the new page. It said "Settings Repairs Tool" with a link for this forum. The rest was blank.

Still can't connect! SMF is unable to connect with the database. So we have to figure out a way to link the two up.

river scorpion

LainaaShouldn't make any difference, no.

Going back to that...I noticed there was a little delimiter box in the bottom left hand corner when I ran that query. But I left it blank.

I was thinking that maybe I had to enter something in there to make the query work. Let me know if that's the case.

There's was no need for that reply, I'm not logged on to the net 24/7 and I offer help in my free time.

river scorpion

This isn't about you. I'll say it again. If you are not competent enough to assist with my issue...just direct me to somebody more knowledgable than you who can.

IS SMF this underrepresented I've got to wait for somebody to log into this forum on their own free time? Is this the only place on earth that I can go to for SMF technical problems?
