Admin > Forum Maintenance > Recount all forum totals and statistics

Let that run, and what ever that ends up with is the correct figure :)

Do you suspect the result to be wrong?

You could clarify by logging into your phmyadmin and counting the rows on your members table

select count(*) from smf_members

and the messages...

select count(*) from smf_messages

The above is guessing that your forums db prefix is smf_ if its not then replace it.

smf_members    16,240
smf_messages    209,612

Does your member count match?
Tony Reid

Ventic

yes

but after the recount i got like -2.000 members

Tony Reid

Do you have a recycle bin? and if so - how many posts are in it?

I suspect that SMF 2 isn't counting certain areas. It could be a bug - or maybe by design - a developer would ned to comment.

I just counted on my site and although I have 3,933,593 posts - the actual numbers of rows on my messages table is 4,433,321

Hmmm... interesting.

I've added a post on the bugs board

Actually, it could be doing what it's supposed to. Recounting statistic's properly. I went through this with one of my sites. It said I had 396 members, but after upgrade is was 209. I actually took the time to count the members by hand, it was 209.

Similar situation with post count.

Just something to consider...

so maybe its smf bug?

Previous bug that been fixed, but that still may not be the case. If you member count drops, maybe some members have deleted his/her profile.

However with post counting, sounds like a bug.

Yeah but we have counted the members and messages rows via phpmyadmin.

This is probably more a feature than a bug.... just investigating. I'll report back when I find out why :)

Xarcell

maybe it's not counting recycled posts.

why though

Who knows, I personally don't think it should be counted. It's not posts that can be viewed. This may not be the case though.
