Hello there.

You should just make favicon.ico file 16X16 pixels in size and upload it to your site root. :)
Thats it :)
If you want you can also add this line into template to help browsers locate that file:
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />

Take a look at this link for more info:

Where exactly would I add thisL

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />

All you really have to do is put the favicon.ico at the root and most browsers will find and render it.

I placed the favicon.ico here "/forums"

Did I do it right?

Is it on the site linked in your profile and signature?

The favicon, no?

On your main site (WordPress one), you have this line:
<link rel="icon" href="http://xenomorph-hive.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/Favicon.png" type="image/x-icon">
On your forum site, you have this line (or lines):
<link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" href="favicon.ico" /><link rel="icon" href="/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />You could actually consider removing all of that and putting the attached file at the root of your site.

I get that, but did I put it in the right spot? "/forums"

Yes, this is correct, but your index.template.php has this (two declarations):
<link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" href="favicon.ico" /><link rel="icon" href="/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />
Remove the second one so that this is left:
<link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" href="favicon.ico" />

You find that file under the default theme right? If so, I search the file for that code and its not there?

It will be in forums/Themes/XH_2011/

What would I change if I had this:

echo '<link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" href="favicon.ico" />';
echo '<link rel="icon" href="/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />';

mashby

Change that to this:
echo '<link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" href="favicon.ico" />';Or really, you could remove both lines.
