This is a guide to show you how to set a color variation of a theme as the default theme of your forum.

A theme color variation is a theme that contains several themes in one. Normally, a theme color variation is just the same theme with different background colors.
Examples:
WOW-DK 2.0

Curve Minimal Multicolor

Steps:

Ensure the theme is installed and working.

Browse to Admin -> Themes and Layout -> Manage and Install

Choose the theme variation you want to set as default theme

Click the "Choose" link. This will redirect to all the themes you have installed.

Browse down to the multicolor variation. Any multicolor variation theme will have a dropdown box where you can choose the different variations of the theme.
Now, choose the right variation. Right after, you can verify it's the right variation, by clicking the [Preview theme]

Now, click the [Use this theme]

You are now redirected back to the "Manage and install" page. Note that you can not see the changes, you can only see that the theme you chose is now the new default.

You can verify the variation is set correctly by either logging out of your forum or opening your site in a different browser.

If you want to force all existing users to use the new default theme, you need to take the exact same steps as above under "Reset everyone to"

Happy SMF'ing :)
