Getting Old Posts

I currently have 2 forums one of which is broken and I can't get back, it has all my posts and threads on it which I need back. Is there anyway I can them all back onto the new forums? If so how?

do you have a backup of the database? in what way can you not get back?

Yes I have a back up of the whole forum even a topic file but I don't know what to do with them to get the posts and all that back?

I have already restored it and now I have my file (In attachments) but I don't know what to do with the file as in how to get all my posts and topics back. I also have the full forum backup. If I have to put it into the public_html what file do I place the backup in?

you need to use the full backup and follow the directions posted above, also it is not the best idea to attach sql files as it could allow people to steal your posts/etc.

All that tells me is how to get the back up onto your hard drive but I don't know what to do next?

you need to have smf installed on your host and connect to that database
