I have setup two new boards as read only with 2 child boards in each with normal rights. Is there a way that post count and new posts can be shown on the forum index?

I see the new posts icon works but I would like it to show post count on the index page if possible.

I'm not entirely sure that I understand what you want, Bully.

If I've read it right, you might want to look at a portal.

I believe many of them have preconfigured blocks to do exactly what you want.

in the second category "Racing Associations News" you'll see 2 boards
    (these are set as read only)

there are three boards in each of those two where members are allowed to post

What I would like is the post counts to show in the parent boards on the index page.

When viewing the index page now they show 0 posts and 0 topics
    (at a glance tells members there is nothing there)

Does that clear it up at all?

admin -> boards -> settings count child's posts in parent's totals

this does not include child of child boards though.

also you should consider upgrading to 1.1.14.

Sorry about that I have a new forum running 2.0 and confused the two.

due to past problems... honestly affraid to upgrade as it is.  would rather wait until we are ready to upgrade this one to 2.0
